Buck has been training for this for a few months now and he's really stuck to his training schedule so he was well prepared. It was very hard and he's pretty sore today but considering the feat he accomplished today, I think he's in great shape! I'm so proud of him for training so hard and finishing! I almost missed him in this shot, just after he crossed the finish line, so his time was probably a couple seconds less than what is showing. That's like an 11 minute mile-- for 26.2 miles! Good job Buck! You are amazing!
This guy, with the beard was sort of an interesting character so I snapped a picture of him because I was going to tell Buck about him....just about how he's all beardy and he's got knee high black socks on, etc. He's just not wearing your typical running garb if you know what I mean. I do have to say though, I think he ran it in about 4 1/2 hours and he came flying across that finish line....well his beard and ponytail were flying behind him and wherever his ipod shuffle was clipped to it came flying off...so he and all things on him were flying as he sprinted across that finish line. Pretty awesome.I thought that was going to be the end of my encounter with him but Buck ended up talking to him after the race...we were all there with him while he was recovering and have powerade/water/bananas, etc.... and the guy tells Buck's mom, who was pushing Lucas in the stroller, something along the lines of the fact that Luke was cute enough and should be about the right age to be in the sequel to the Sixth Sense when they're ready to do it. Ummmm....okay. He might have been as strange as he looked. Maybe he just thought that Luke looks like Haley Joel Osment and that's what he was trying to say. Who knows?

Congrats Buck! That is amazing! I am in awe. I could never run 26 miles let alone in that kind of time.
Ditto to Bekah's comment. That is amazing, Buck. I can't even finish a 5k without walking some! Way to go!
